Discollate becomes the good assistant for those people, who often writes various data on disks with fixed capacity. It will help to allocate media space effectively, saving media and time.
Pros: If you need to record multiple pieces of data on fixed size media the Discollate 0.1.0.0 could arrange the files and folders, particularly if it is going to span more than one piece of media, so that space is allocated to the files and folders and to which disk they should go quite effectively. Doing it manually could be quite a pain. Or else you’d end up with media full messages halfway through the last file being written on a disk. That could be quite an irritation, particularly with non-rewritable media. The program will do this optimally for maximum utilization of the media too.
The interface is simple enough. On the right you have two tabs. On one of the tabs you set the capacity of individual media and the count of such media to be used in the writing operation. Results tab show the distribution of the files onto the disk1, disk2 etc. You choose the files to be written first on the main interface area first, of course. The program uses Unicode and thus can support multi-byte Asian languages.
Cons: This is a version 1.0 release so watch out! Besides when media is so cheap the motivation for such a program is not very clear. The functionality can be achieved without much trouble just by adding up the size of the files, who really cares about a few megabytes in today’s situation!
Overall: Does the job well for which this was created. So a 3 star rating is right.
